ROUTE FUNCTION
During the major closure of the bridge over the Nisa in Pavlovice from 1 January 2008 to the summer of 2009, a closure line ran under this number on the route ZELENÉ ÚDOLÍ/BROUMOVSKÁ - Pavlovice Letná - PAVLOVICE STADION. It ran only on weekdays; at weekends line 41 ran instead on the route DOUBÍ SÍDLIŠTĚ - Pavlovice Letná - PAVLOVICE STADION.
29 January 2024: a new line serving the area of the Klášter hospital and polyclinic was introduced under this number. For the first time in history regular transport thus appeared on Husova and Klostermannova streets.
Line 40 is a fast semi-circular line through the centre. The only trickier spot is Klostermannova street, where cars are often badly parked — sometimes so badly that it cannot be driven through at all. Easily arising delays at the many traffic-light-controlled junctions, which lengthen the otherwise short 11-minute running time, are a matter of course.
