Liberec Routes

School line 58 provides the Sunday transport of Technical University of Liberec students from the railway station to the university dormitories. The line waits for the arrival of the express train from Pardubice to ensure the connection. The standard fare applies on the line, so anyone can use it.

School line 58 follows the introduction of line 57 just a year later, that is, in 2006. From the start its task is the Sunday transport of students from the Pardubice express train, which arrives before 8 p.m. The express is heavily used precisely as the Sunday run-in of non-Liberec students before the next week. Interestingly, at first the line's operation (unlike line 57) was not tied to the TUL semester, but ran as an ordinary school line. This restriction came only later. From the start to this day not even the timing of this service, departing at 20:05, has changed. Since 2019 it has been operated by an articulated bus.

• 16 July 2023: in the direction from the centre the line newly calls at the Šaldovo náměstí stop on the tracks, where all the other lines stop too. The stop on Jablonecká street is abolished.

Since this line has only a single service, running once a week and only during the academic term, it is an interesting and not very frequent change of pace for the driver. Until articulated buses ran on the ordinary lines at weekends, the driver would finish their shift and, in the garages, climb over into a prepared articulated bus, with which they waited for departure. Today this service connects to a shift on line 12. Since it is necessary to wait for the arrival of the express train, the driver can only pray not to have a big delay and thus to get home on time.

Demand for this service is really considerable. It is not unusual for some students to give up and take the tram to Lidové Sady instead.
