School line 60: Šimonovice - Pilínkov - Doubí sídliště - Vesec - Fügnerova

ROUTE FUNCTION
The purpose of school line 60 is above all to take pupils to and from the Vesec and Doubí primary schools from Pilínkov and Šimonovice. As it starts as early as the Fügnerova terminal, however, it can also be considered a supplement to line 20 in the afternoon and morning peaks. It is, after all, used for this purpose by ordinary passengers.
School line 60 first appears with the 2007/2008 school year. Although it has the highest number so far, line 59 was put into operation only 3 years later. The reason for introducing this line was chiefly the request of the municipality of Šimonovice for safer transport of schoolchildren to ZŠ Kaplického in Doubí and ZŠ Vesec and back. Until then this transport was possible only by line 20, from which, firstly, pupils had to walk a fairly long way and, secondly, as a result of the development of Šimonovice the morning services often had problems handling the demand. Line 60 proved to be the optimal solution. Initially only one morning and one afternoon service were introduced. The very next year, however, a second afternoon service is added, and over the following years further afternoon services were added; finally the morning service was reinforced by another bus from Pilínkov. Along with the expansion of afternoon operation, en-route stops were also added. Originally the line was conceived as an express one between Vesec and the centre, where beyond the Vesec samoobsluha stop it stopped only at the Rochlice stop on Poštovní náměstí. Over the years, however, stops were added on Dr. Milady Horákové street, and today, between Rochlice and the centre, it only does not stop at Melantrichova. From a purely school line that was to serve just a few primary schools, it has thus also become a reinforcement of lines 13, 20, 24 and 26 during weekday peaks, serving the large residential areas in Vesec, Doubí, Pilínkov and Šimonovice.

As for its route, line 60 shares features with line 20, naturally except for the section through Vesec and Doubí. In Doubí I would mention above all the need to turn around via the turning loop of lines 13, 24 and 26. The loop is sometimes passable and sometimes not, as can be seen in the footage in the direction from the centre, and this sometimes brings amusing situations. A colleague wanted to clear the way for me, while in the meantime I had turned around at the junction. This is possible when the space is not blocked by parked cars, but usually one has to choose to go through the loop.
